Killeen Studio Architects

[accordion] [accordion_item title="About Killeen Studio" icon="fa-info-circle"]

Killeen Studio is a full service architectural firm in our fourteenth year of business. We design distinct spaces in which people enjoy working, learning and living. As a medium-sized firm we pride ourselves on delivering quick service, personal attention and great value. We are selective in choosing our clients so that we can give their projects the time and attention they deserve. Our goal on every job is to meet and exceed the client’s expectations for quality design and budget adherence.

Firm History

Our story is one of proving ourselves early with clients and then fostering ongoing relationships in which they trust us to deliver excellence time an again. The first projects included office renovations for Anheuser-Buschb(A-B). Since then, Killeen Studio has been awarded increasingly larger projects from A-B at its headquarters in St. Louis and at many of its satellite breweries across the nation. Our success in meeting the demands of this fortune 500 company has propelled Killeen Studio into providing the same high level of service to other top-tier companies such as Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the Lodging Hospitality Management.

Our clients have come to appreciate the complete package we deliver of efficiency and thoroughness in our drawings. We offer creative solutions and pride ourselves on our ability to listen to and engage clients so that they are truly involved in the process.

Urban Chestnut Revolution Brewery and Bierhall St. Louis, Missouri

[row] [col class="col-md-9"] [flickr-photo:id=15027037398, size=m, style=float:left]

The Urban Chestnut ‘Revolution’ Brewery and Bierhall occupies a 67,000 sf facility built in 1947 with additions in 1986 and 1991. The original structure is load bearing brick masonry with steel columns and beams, a wood second floor structure, and a pour gypsum roof. The floor in the original building was raised over 3 feet after a significant fire. The additions are both pre-engineered metal buildings with concrete masonry exterior walls. The building now houses offices, a tasting room and bierhall, and brewing, fermenting and packaging equipment for Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. The current capacity is 15,000 barrels/year with expansion space to brew 100,000 barrels/year.

To adapt the building from a warehouse to what is essentially an industrial process facility with a significant public component, Trivers Associates designed extensive modifications to open up the building to restore and create new window openings within the bierhall and by removing a significant portion of the concrete masonry wall. The bierhall opening are 7’ wide x 11’ tall and surrounded by a 1” thick steel structure, creating a small balcony when the storefronts are opened. The removed portion of concrete masonry wall creates a covered exterior terrace where large storefront openings provide views to the fermentation tanks inside. To further intertwine the public experience with the beer-making process, the stainless steel brewing equipment and tanks serve as the backdrop to the bar, letting patrons experience the beginning and end of the process from one spot.
